We are recruiting for a Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist therapeutic education setting supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH and other barriers to learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate looking for practical, hands-on experience!

About the School

An independent SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) school for boys and girls, aged 7-17, in Esher, Surrey. Building relationships with our pupils is key to their therapeutic approach. Small pupil numbers, coupled with a high staff ratio, help to create a nurturing environment in which our students can thrive.

The school offers:

  • Small classes of no more than six students
  • A highly personalised approach to learning
  • Therapeutic support focused on wellbeing and emotional development
  • A nurturing and supportive environment
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people

The Role

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students both academically and emotionally.

You will help to create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels understood, supported and encouraged to succeed.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting children and young people with Autism, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Helping students to access personalised learning programmes
  • Supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour
  • Building strong, trusting and professional relationships with students
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the wider team
  • Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Interested in understanding behaviour and the reasons behind it
  • Committed to helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally

Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEMH, behavioural needs or other additional needs would be beneficial, although the right attitude, transferable skills and genuine passion for supporting young people will also be highly valued.

If you are looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same and where you can genuinely help a young person build a brighter future, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today to find out more about this rewarding SEN Learning Support Assistant opportunity.
