Our client is an award winning geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation company with established offices U.K. wide.

They have recently seen a significant increase in the uptake of their services which now requires a further expansion of the team from graduate level upwards.

Geotechnical- Geo-Environmental Engineer Berkshire 1-3 YEARS EXPERIENCE OR A STRONG RAW GRADUATE will be considered

ROLE

Based out of the Berkshire office your duties will comprise supporting the delivery of site investigation projects, predominantly in the field, and under the guidance of an office-based project manager. You will also contribute to the effective delivery and/or management of the technical, commercial and HSEQ (health, safety, environment and quality) components of each project within your scope of responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree level qualified in Earth Science / Geology / Civil Engineering or a related environmental subject essential

Excellent written and oral skills

Excellent organisational skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

Full UK driving licence

The successful candidate will receive full training and mentoring at a level commensurate with their background and experience

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Site supervision and service excellence:

  • Independently manage small site investigation projects and support the delivery of medium and large scale site investigation projects in the field using best practices in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Focused and efficient contribution to projects on site to ensure that pre-determined project milestone dates are achieved, or improved upon, on a consistent basis.
  • Carry out all site investigation requirements in line with current standards.
  • Understand the brief (specification) and cost build-up on projects, or part of projects, assigned to you and ensure delivery within these parameters.
  • Cost control, through regular monitoring of expenditure, of all contract works managed by you to maximise profitability.
  • Prepare and deliver technical data and reports in accordance with project milestone dates.
  • Communication and people management:
  • Maintain an effective line of communication with clients in line with their individual expectations and requirements.
  • Keep an open line of communication with Project Managers and other staff members including preparation of progress reports and attendance at office meetings as requested.
  • Build effective working relationships with other technical specialists within the Dunelm Group.
  • Manage your own time to ensure effective use of both billable and non-billable hours.
  • Work with the Regional Manager and Directors to develop personal career objectives.
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities, training and advancement of team members.
  • Ensure site personnel under your control are adequately instructed and can prove their skills in the use of machinery or equipment to be used on a project, before use, through assessment with an approved accreditation scheme (eg. CPCS).
  • Encourage health and safety awareness by example and instruction.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Site walkovers and attendance at pre-start meetings
  • Participation at project briefings
  • Execution of site establishment and logistics plans
  • Execution of site investigation delivery plans
  • Commercial awareness of scope variations and their reporting
  • Recording of site activity including production monitoring
  • Site personnel and equipment verification and validation
  • Soil and rock sample logging (boreholes, trial pits etc) and log compilation
  • Field testing
  • Soil and rock sample management
  • Post-fieldwork gas and groundwater monitoring and sampling
  • Surveying

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From -28,500.00 per year upwards
