We are seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineer with 2-5 years'' experience to join a growing team in Basingstoke. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a talented environmental consultancy delivering innovative geotechnical solutions across major rail and infrastructure projects nationwide.
Working alongside experienced geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and environmental specialists, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and delivery of projects that support sustainable development and the transition to greener transport networks.
The Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be involved in a broad range of technical and project delivery activities, including:
- Geotechnical design and assessment for rail and infrastructure projects
- Numerical modelling and analysis using PLAXIS 2D
- Interpretation of ground investigation data and preparation of geotechnical reports
- Slope stability, retaining structure, embankment, and foundation assessments
- Supporting project management and client liaison activities
- Working closely with multidisciplinary environmental and engineering teams
- Site visits and technical supervision where required
- Contributing to sustainable engineering solutions and best-practice design approaches
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
- 2-5 years'' relevant consultancy experience
- Experience working on rail or infrastructure projects
- Proficiency with PLAXIS 2D
- Strong understanding of UK geotechnical design standards and ground investigation practices
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
