About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Geography to join a thriving secondary school in Rugby. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through the study of both physical and human geography, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the world and the challenges facing modern societies.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in geographical issues. Working as part of a supportive department, you will play a key role in helping students achieve strong academic outcomes while contributing positively to the wider school community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and well-structured Geography lessons across the relevant key stages.
• Develop and implement creative teaching strategies that motivate and challenge learners of all abilities.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports academic success and personal development.
• Teach a broad range of geographical topics, enabling students to understand physical landscapes, human environments, and global issues.
• Monitor, assess, and evaluate student progress, using assessment data to inform planning and interventions.
• Differentiate teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Establish and maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and achievement.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and departmental improvement initiatives.
• Support and participate in educational visits, fieldwork activities, and enrichment opportunities where appropriate.
• Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve and reach their full potential.
• Attend departmental meetings, parents'' evenings, training sessions, and other school events.
• Support students'' wellbeing and personal development through pastoral responsibilities when required.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Degree in Geography or a closely related discipline.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for geographical education.
• Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons.
• Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Experience of assessing student performance and monitoring progress.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting student welfare.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience teaching Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience being advantageous.
• Previous involvement in organising or leading geography-based field trips or educational visits.
• Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities, revision sessions, or geography clubs.
• Experience analysing performance data to raise attainment and improve student outcomes.
