We’re a pioneering health tech company on a mission to revolutionise the way we all understand and support our health. Our mission is simple: to help people, and their doctors, make better decisions that lead to longer, fuller lives. We focus on the common diseases that affect billions, the ones that put the greatest strain on our healthcare systems. Each person is unique, and by decoding the insights in our DNA, we’re building cutting-edge tools and platforms that enable truly personalised medicine. From prevention and early screening, to diagnosis, treatment, and even the development of new medicines, there is so much more to discover and build to support people at each step of their healthcare journey. With our leading science and brilliant partners, we can make healthcare smarter, more precise, and more personal. Our vision is bold: a world where everyone benefits from genomics. If you’re inspired by the potential of cutting-edge science and technology and want to have a real impact on the future of healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

Role Purpose:

As a (Junior) Genomic Data Engineer at Genomics Ltd, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, trusted, and timely genomic data that fuels our groundbreaking insights into human health and disease. Your work will support our in-house scientists and external customers, enabling discoveries that could identify new therapeutic targets and improve lives. You’ll focus on transforming, harmonising, and quality-controlling large-scale genetic and genomic datasets, working across diverse sources from the scientific community, commercial partners, and our own in-house research.

A Day in the Life:

Process and ingest large-scale genetic and genomic datasets using a combination of manual, scripted, and automated approaches.

Configure workflow parameters and dataset metadata to ensure scientists receive the right data, in the right format, at the right time.

Assess and influence data quality standards, working closely with software developers and engineers to optimise and automate ingestion workflows.

Collaborate with agile teams to continuously improve our processes, from data acquisition to release.

Support scientific teams by delivering approved data releases and sharing expertise on data handling best practices.

Who You Are

You have a BSc or higher qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant genomic discipline, with a solid understanding of human genetics.

Experience handling GWAS data and manipulating large-scale genotypic (array-based, WGS, WES) and phenotypic datasets.

Proficient in Python and Unix shell, with strong problem-solving skills and a knack for overcoming unexpected data challenges.

Highly organised, able to plan and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced, agile environment.

An excellent communicator, comfortable working both collaboratively in a team and independently.
