General Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced General Manager to lead a busy, high-volume operational site.
This is a senior leadership position with overall responsibility for the management, performance and direction of the business, leading a large and diverse team and driving a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement and customer service.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in laundry, linen, textiles or another high-volume production/manufacturing environment.

The Role
As General Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the site, ensuring operational, financial and customer service objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing strong leadership, direction and support across the business.
• Leading and motivating a large, diverse workforce, creating high levels of employee engagement.
• Overseeing production, engineering, logistics and customer service functions.
• Ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and employee wellbeing.
• Monitoring and reporting on key site KPIs, including productivity, rejects, shortages, energy, fuel, payroll and other expenditure.
• Maintaining full budgetary control across areas of responsibility.
• Driving a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and a positive "can-do" attitude.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and overall site performance.
• Building strong internal and external relationships and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
• Making effective commercial and operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Working closely with site teams to implement, monitor and evaluate business improvement initiatives.

About You
We are looking for an established General Manager or senior operational leader with proven experience managing people, budgets and performance within a production or manufacturing environment.
Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience in General Management, Site Management or senior operational leadership.
• A strong production/manufacturing background.
• Experience within laundry, linen, textiles or another high-volume processing environment would be highly advantageous.
• Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a large team.
• Good commercial awareness and confidence managing budgets, costs and financial performance.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to use KPIs to drive performance.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
• The confidence to make decisions in a pressurised operational environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A dynamic and engaging leadership style, leading by example.
• A strong commitment to health and safety — NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.
• A flexible approach to working hours when required.
• A genuine customer-focused mindset.
