From distinguished art exhibitions to fine dining, live music, and an exceptional programme of events for members, the club remains at the heart of contemporary cultural life in London.Job Purpose

The General Manager is responsible for leading the overall operations of Ofelia, the members’ lounge and Italian restaurant, ensuring the highest standards of service, hospitality, and efficiency. The General Manager is responsible for driving excellence across guest experience, team performance, financial results, and compliance, while upholding the brand values and reputation of the establishment.Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership- Provide strategic and operational direction to ensure the smooth running of Ofelia’s daily service and events.- Maintain and regularly review departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring consistency of service and operational excellence.- Represent the department in senior management meetings and ensure alignment with the Club’s objectives.

People Management- Lead, manage, and support a dynamic team, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development and performance management.- Promote clear communication and collaboration across all levels of the team.- Foster a culture of professional development, skills training, and succession planning to support retention and career growth.

Financial Management- Take full accountability for departmental payroll and budgetary controls, providing regular reports to the Director of Operations.- Implement and oversee stock control, ordering, and cost management systems to protect profitability.- Collaborate with Operation Training Manager and support the departmental Training Champions to monitor departmental performance, identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and revenue generation.

Member and Guest Experience- Actively engage with members and guests to ensure their experience consistently meets or exceeds expectations.- Drive service improvements and develop initiatives to enhance member value, guest satisfaction, and commercial performance.

Compliance and Standards- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, licensing regulations, and employment law.- Uphold service standards in line with the Club’s values and reputation, responding effectively to member and guest feedback.- Maintain high levels of professionalism, integrity, and hospitality across all team activities.

Additional Duties- Adhere to all fire, health and safety, hygiene, and security procedures.- Attend training sessions, departmental briefings, and management meetings as required.- Undertake any other reasonable duties assigned by the Director of Operations or the executive team.

Qualifications and Key Competencies

- Proven experience in senior leadership within luxury hospitality, private members’ clubs, or comparable high-end environments.- Track record of managing large, diverse teams and delivering outstanding service at scale.- Strong commercial acumen with expertise in payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting.- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in fast-paced settings.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with members, guests, and colleagues.- Inspirational leadership style that motivates and empowers others while maintaining accountability and discretion.- Problem-solving mindset with strong decision-making skills and attention to detail.- Adaptable, resilient, and commercially focused, with a proactive approach to service excellence, growth, and innovation.This list of duties is not exhaustive, nor is it intended to be, and duties are not listed in any order of priority.Benefits
