About the Role:

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, effective and compassionate running of the service, ensuring high standards of clinical and personal care. You will lead and develop the multidisciplinary team, maintain robust governance and quality frameworks, and ensure full compliance with CQC standards. Your leadership will influence resident outcomes, staff culture, and key relationships with families, professionals, and regulators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible, day-to-day leadership to the service, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, compassion, and teamwork.
  • Implement and maintain effective clinical governance and quality assurance systems, ensuring safe, person-centred care and continuous service improvement.
  • Monitor and ensure full compliance with CQC standards and other regulatory requirements, preparing for and responding to inspections as the Registered Manager.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and external stakeholders, managing communication, feedback, and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical leads and multidisciplinary teams to support best practice, care planning, and risk management.
  • Lead change initiatives and improvement projects, ensuring staff engagement, clear communication, and effective implementation.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong people management skills, with a track record of leading, motivating, and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of clinical governance and quality assurance in a healthcare or social care environment.
  • In-depth understanding of CQC standards, regulatory frameworks, and inspection processes for care homes.
  • Confident in managing complex situations, including safeguarding, complaints, and incident management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, staff, and external professionals.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on outcomes and resident-centred care.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience turning around or improving CQC ratings in a care home setting.
  • Familiarity with budget management, occupancy, and commercial aspects of running a nursing home.
  • Knowledge of dementia care best practice and end-of-life care pathways.
  • Experience implementing digital care planning or quality monitoring systems.
