Overview

Our client, a successful, eclectic indie label, are seeking an experienced

General Manager . The ideal candidate will have substantial music industry experience, spanning artist campaign management, artist development, distribution, strategic planning, team leadership and financial oversight, ideally within the independent sector. The successful candidate will be joining a growing business and assume responsibility for managing and optimising the operational structure of the business.Key responsibilities

Provide leadership to optimise the operational structure and manage the execution of the Label’s vision.Oversee the full scope of the Label’s infrastructure across AandR, Marketing, Distribution, Sync, Content, and Live and Digital strategy.Ensure smooth execution of campaigns with internal alignment and maintenance of internal systems, workflows and calendars.Coordinate cross-functional communication between internal staff, external partners, and artist teams.Oversee successful project execution with the elimination of bottlenecks, issue-resolution and workflow improvement.Collaborate extensively with the Founders on long-term planning, resource allocation, and growth strategies.Produce actionable quarterly and yearly operational roadmaps from high-level strategy.Identify opportunities for cost efficiency, audience growth, and innovation across the business.Oversee the execution of all artist release campaigns.Ensure campaigns are commercially effective, with deadlines, and aligned with artists.Lead weekly campaign reporting, review performance metrics, and adjust strategy as needed.Support artist careers with effective release cycles, collaborations, touring support, and brand-building.Take responsibility for the Label’s budgets, including forecasting and reporting.Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to track expenditure, optimise spend, and monitor cashflow.Lead negotiations with service providers, freelancers, and vendors.Oversee daily operations of AandR, Marketing, Digital, Creative, Sync and Partnerships departments.Serve as a senior point of contact for artists, managers, and distributors.Support the internal team with leadership and mentoring to meet performance targets.Identify and mitigate risks related to campaigns, contracts, scheduling, artist relationships, or financial decisions.Ensure that legal, publishing, licensing and data compliance procedures are upheld.Qualifications

Senior experience in label management or label services, music industry operations or music start-ups is essential.Proven knowledge of the DSP landscape, artist brand development, marketing strategy and the release cycle.Proven history producing successful artist campaigns.Strong experience building and managing multiple teams/external agencies.Strategic and highly organized approach to work.Confident working in a fast-paced environment.Strong project management skills.Able to integrate creativity with business objectives.Familiarity with budget creation, reconciliation, cost efficiency and reporting; also familiarity with tools such as Excel, Xero or similar.Strong interpersonal skills honed within artist relations and working with internal teams.Working knowledge of project management tools such as Airtable, Trello, or Notion.DSP ecosystems include Spotify for Artists, Apple Music, pitching tools.Familiarity with data tools such as Chartmetric, Music Ally, and Soundcharts.Familiarity with CRM/Email marketing tools such as OpenStage, Mailchimp, etc.Current and active music industry network.Note: Due to the volume of submissions, only successful candidates who meet the exact requirements will be contacted.
