General Labourer/Gardener

We are currently recruiting for a-General Labourer / Assistant Gardener-to support the Parks Team in maintaining and improving public parks and open spaces across the borough.

This is a hands-on role offering a varied workload, ideal for someone with grounds maintenance or horticultural experience who enjoys working outdoors.

• Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil (CF47 8RE)
• -13.69 per hour
• 2 month contract+

The Role

Reporting to a Team Leader or Charge Hand, you will carry out a wide range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties across the County Borough.

Please note, flexibility is essential as you may be required to support other Neighbourhood Services departments such as Waste, Highways, Street Cleansing, or Cemeteries, depending on operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• General gardening and grounds maintenance duties
• Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
• Use of hand tools (strimmers, hedge cutters, blowers, etc.)
• Marking football pitches and maintaining playing surfaces
• Turf repairs and fine turf maintenance
• Litter picking and bin emptying
• Soil preparation including digging, mulching, planting, and weeding
• Lawn care, pruning, edging, and seed sowing
• Assisting with landscaping and seasonal bedding
• Supporting arboriculture teams when required
• Driving vehicles and towing trailers (where qualified)
