General Foreman – Civil Engineering

Location: Lowestoft, Suffolk
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

I''m currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a leading national civil engineering contractor on a major project based in Lowestoft.

The Role

As General Foreman, you''ll play a key role in the successful delivery of a significant civils project, taking responsibility for supervising site operations, managing direct labour and subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager, you''ll lead from the front, maintaining high standards of health & safety while driving productivity across site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations on a major civil engineering project.

  • Supervise site teams, operatives and subcontractors.

  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme.

  • Maintain high standards of quality and compliance.

  • Coordinate labour, plant and materials effectively.

  • Carry out site briefings, toolbox talks and daily inspections.

  • Work closely with engineers and project management to resolve site issues.

  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with company procedures.

About You

I''m keen to speak with experienced General Foremen who have a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

You''ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a General Foreman within the civil engineering sector.

  • Experience delivering projects such as highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities or infrastructure.

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation and site management.

  • Ability to motivate teams and maintain high standards on site.

  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications (or equivalent).
