General Cover Teachers – Medway Secondary Schools

Are you a qualified or unqualified teacher with strong classroom presence and a passion for supporting students across a variety of subjects? Are you looking for flexible, ongoing opportunities in secondary education?

Supply Desk are working in partnership with a number of large, inclusive, and supportive secondary schools in Medway, who are actively seeking regular general cover staff to work across Key Stages 3 and 4.

These schools value consistency, reliability, and a positive attitude, and are eager to build lasting relationships with dedicated supply staff who can contribute to a calm and effective learning environment.

The Role

You’ll be stepping into classes with pre-prepared work, maintaining routines, and supporting students’ learning in the absence of their usual teacher. You may be covering a range of subjects across the week, so a flexible and resilient approach is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering pre-set lessons confidently across various subjects (no planning required)
• Managing classroom behaviour using effective, respectful strategies
• Engaging students and supporting their progress
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
• Reporting on student engagement and behaviour as required

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from:

• Qualified teachers (QTS or QTLS)
• Unqualified teachers with secondary school experience
• Cover Supervisors or graduates with strong subject knowledge and classroom confidence

• Excellent classroom and behaviour management
• Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced school environments
• A proactive, dynamic, and calm approach to teaching and learning
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting student wellbeing
• Ability to build rapport quickly and professionally with staff and students
