General Building Operative

We are recruiting for a General Building Operative (GBO) to join the facilities'' maintenance team at HMP Liverpool. This is an ongoing temporary position offering stable work, structured hours, and the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the right candidate.Working within a secure custodial environment, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the prison estate, helping to ensure the site remains safe, secure and operational. Key Responsibilities Carry out general building maintenance and repair works. Undertake basic joinery, patch plastering, painting and decorating tasks. Complete minor brickwork, flooring and fabric maintenance repairs. Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely manner. Support planned preventative maintenance activities. Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures. Maintain accurate records of completed work. Work collaboratively with other trades and site teams. What We''re Looking For Previous experience in a General Building Operative, Handyperson, Multi-Skilled Operative or Building Maintenance role. Practical experience across a range of building fabric repairs. Good understanding of health and safety requirements. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
