Gear Cutting Specialist

OverviewJob Title: Gear Cutter

Location: Barton Under Needwood, Staffordshire

Duration: 3 months minimum

Hours: 7am-4pm Mon to Thurs, 7am-1pm Fri

Our engineering client based in Barton Under Needwood requires an experienced Gear Cutter for a minimum of 3 months.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in machine setting, programming, and operation of gear and spline cutting equipment and have knowledge of gear manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities and Activities

Use of a wide range of measuring equipment to check components.

Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.

Obtaining relevant information from the relevant sources.

Controlling machines and processes.

Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.

Analysing information and finding the best solutions to problems.

Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.

Keeping the work environment safe.

Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work.

Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable.

Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.

Report any near misses.

Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.

Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager.

Adhere at all times to the company''s Health, Safety and Environmental instructions, and requirements.

Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee''s skills and abilities.

Background and Experience

Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.

Be practical mechanically oriented.

Possess good problem-solving skills.

Recognised engineering qualification required.

Self-motivated.

Pfauter CNC gear cutter (Siemens 840 control)

Pfauter CNC gear tooth grinder (Siemens 840 control)

Magg gear tooth grinder (CNC, manual, or semi-automatic)

Gear tooth rounding machines

Gear tooth deburring machines
