About the Role
A Garage Assistant is required in Currie (EH14 2TF) for a full-time, temporary contract paying £14.51 per hour. Working Monday to Friday across 36 hours weekly, you will support vehicle examiners during inspections by operating lights, steering, and brakes when directed. Duties include assisting with checks across various vehicle types, working safely on raised ramps, and maintaining a tidy workshop. Clear communication with mechanics and examiners is essential. A UK driving licence is mandatory. Immediate starts are available for this ongoing position. Prior workshop experience is advantageous, though full guidance will be provided on site.

The Garage Assistant will support vehicle examiners and workshop teams by safely assisting with vehicle checks, helping operate vehicle controls during inspections, and maintaining a clean, organised workshop environment.
A UK drivers licence is required
- Assisting vehicle examiners during inspections by safely operating vehicle lights, steering and brakes when instructed
- Supporting checks across a range of vehicle types, including vehicles positioned on workshop ramps
- Working safely at slight height where vehicles are raised on ramps
- Communicating clearly with vehicle examiners, mechanics and other workshop colleagues
- Carrying out general housekeeping duties to keep the workshop area clean, safe and well-organised
- Helping prepare vehicles and equipment for inspection, maintenance or testing
- Reporting any visible issues, hazards or concerns to the appropriate team member
- Working both indoors and outdoors in a busy, professional garage environment
Requirements: - Confident following instructions and working safely around vehicles and workshop equipment
- Comfortable operating vehicle lights, steering and brakes when directed by a vehicle examiner
- Comfortable working at slight height while vehicles are positioned on ramps
- Good communication skills and a reliable, positive approach to teamwork
- An interest in motor vehicles and a basic understanding of how they operate would be an advantage
