About the Role
The Gallery Assistant role at Gildens Art Gallery, based in Hampstead, London, is a full-time contract position. This role oversees daily gallery operations, engaging directly with clients, preparing for art fairs, and coordinating artwork transport and importation. Responsibilities include exhibition installation, gallery administration, platform maintenance, social media management, and artwork photography and packing. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in History of Art or a related field, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Salary is dependent on experience. This position requires someone capable of managing multiple tasks within a specialist fine art environment.
Located in Hampstead, Gilden's Art Gallery specialises in Modern Fine Art of the early
20th century. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a
Gallery Assistant.
You will be responsible for: - The day-to-day running of the gallery - Face-to-face dealing with clients at the gallery. - Preparation for Art Fairs - Organising transports - Arranging for the importation of artworks - Installation of exhibitions in the gallery as well as at Art Fairs - Gallery administration: Uploading to platforms, maintaining platforms, Social media and photography of artworks. - Packing artworks.
The successful candidate will hold at least a bachelor’s degree in History of Art or a similar
qualification. He/She will be an ambitious individual who has excellent verbal and written
communication skills in English. Fluency in one or several other languages will be
advantageous.
Prior experience as a gallery assistant/Intern or auction coordinator would be an advantage,
as well as prior knowledge of original prints and works on paper of the Modern era.
Availability to work 5 days per week including at the weekend when necessary.
