£26,600 basic + on-call allowance and call-out payments

A long-established, family-run Funeral Directors in Basingstoke is looking for a reliable, practical, and compassionate Funeral Operative to join their close-knit team. No previous funeral experience needed — just the right mindset, professionalism, and willingness to learn.

• Support funeral services as a driver and bearer, ensuring dignity throughout

• Take part in a 24/7 on-call rota (approx. one week in three)

• Assist with the care of the deceased and accurate handling of belongings

• Help prepare coffins, caskets, and the funeral home

• Maintain vehicles to exceptionally high standards

• Ensure services run smoothly, including checking floral tributes

• Work calmly and respectfully with families and colleagues

• Full UK driving licence

• Able to reach the office within 60 minutes when on call

• Physically fit and comfortable with lifting and hands-on work

• Dependable, organised, and calm under pressure

• Strong communication skills and a naturally empathetic approach

• Team-focused attitude and willingness to learn

• Realistic earnings circa £32,000
