Functional Skills Tutor

TeacherActive are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Derby.Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is essential.QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential as attitude, personality are absolutely key.Desirable Attributes:Have an ability to teach functional skills in English and Maths.Have experience working with young peopleBe highly organised with excellent communication skillsHave a desire to work with, inspire and support childrenHave an interest in supporting young people with a variety of additional needsHave experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable not essential)Be a part of the school team taking part in the wider school environmentHave an understanding of behavioural managementBasic Role DescriptionTeaching Basic Skills in an SEND provision to pupils of varying abilitiesSupporting children during lessons/school activitiesSupporting staff/children during lunch and break timesManaging pupils personalised learning based on their individual need.Delivering 1:1 or small group activitiesCollecting evidence of children s work to support their assessmentProviding physical management and care of pupilsThe setting supports young people in KS3 and 4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools.
