Functional Skills Tutor (SEND/SEMH)

TeacherActive are looking for a Functional Skills (Maths and English) Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Nottinghamshire.The Alternative Provision (AP) is looking for someone who has previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities/ SEND and Social Emotional Mental Health Needs/ SEMH. The setting supports young people in KS3 and 4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools. The aim is to either re integrate these young people back into mainstream schools/post 16 education/ apprenticeships or training through personalised education plans.The successful Functional Skills Tutor will: Have an ability to teach functional skills in English and Maths.Be highly organised with excellent communication skillsBe patient and understanding.Have an understanding of behavioural managementStrive to make a positive impact.Have a desire to work with, inspire and support childrenHave a passion for working within an Alternative Provision (AP). Basic role description: Teaching Basic Skills in an SEND/SEMH provision to pupils of varying abilities Supporting children during lessons/school activities Supporting staff/children during lunch and break times Managing pupils personalised learning based on their individual need.
