Functional Skills Tutor - Chester Location: Chester Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: September 2026 Duration: Ongoing Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Chester. This role would suit a tutor who can combine strong subject knowledge with an approachable teaching style and help learners develop the practical skills they need to progress. Responsibilities Deliver individual Functional Skills tuition Support English and/or Maths depending on learner requirements Plan sessions around current ability Identify and target areas for improvement Develop practical literacy and numeracy skills Adapt teaching to maintain engagement Encourage independence and confidence Provide feedback on learner development Essential Criteria Previous teaching or tutoring experience Experience with Functional Skills is desirable Strong English and/or Maths subject knowledge Experience working with children or young people Adaptable and supportive approach QTS, PGCE or equivalent experience desirable Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply Right to Work in the UK Two professional references Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business and education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy. ..... full job details .....
