Functional Skills Maths Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Tutor/Teacher to join our team within a small, specialist alternative provision. This role is based primarily at our Thurston site, working alongside a team of skilled facilitators to deliver a bespoke, therapeutic and vocational curriculum.The position will focus mainly on Functional Skills Maths, with some GCSE Maths teaching where appropriate (or a willingness to develop in this area). You will support students with a range of needs, including SEND, helping them to re-engage with education and build confidence in numeracy.Sessions take place during school hours, 3-5 days per week during term-time only.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver one-to-one and small group Maths sessions tailored to individual learning needsPlan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons, primarily at Functional Skills level, with some GCSE contentSupport students in understanding key mathematical concepts and improving attainmentCreate a positive, nurturing learning environment that builds confidence and engagementUse a relational, trauma-informed approach to support behaviour and wellbeingTrack and communicate student progress with the Specialism CoordinatorMaintain accurate records and adapt teaching strategies accordinglyContribute to EHCP reviews, reports and personalised provision planningWork collaboratively with colleagues to provide holistic support for learnersAbout YouWe are looking for someone who:Has strong knowledge of Maths (Functional ..... full job details .....
