Job Title: Functional Skills Maths Tutor Location: Halton Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: October 2026 Duration: Ongoing About the Role Prospero Teaching is recruiting a supportive Functional Skills Maths Tutor to help learners improve their numeracy and work towards relevant qualifications. The successful candidate will deliver accessible, engaging sessions that develop practical mathematical skills and help learners overcome barriers to progress. Key Responsibilities Deliver individualised Functional Skills Maths tuition Cover number operations, fractions, decimals, percentages and measurements Develop practical numeracy and problem-solving skills Prepare learners for assessments and qualifications Adapt resources and teaching methods to suit individual abilities Record progress against learning objectives Experience, Training and Qualifications Relevant teaching qualification, QTS or PGCE desirable Strong Maths subject knowledge Previous experience in teaching, tutoring or educational support Familiarity with Functional Skills levels and assessment requirements beneficial Patient, encouraging and adaptable approach Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain the required clearance Two professional references Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business and education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy. ..... full job details .....
