Functional Skills English Tutor (Prison Education)

Location: Lichfield Pay: £28+ per hour (Flexible) Job Type: Temporary, ongoing (covering sickness absence and extended vetting processes) We are currently seeking an experienced Functional Skills English Tutor to deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills within a prison education setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners in developing essential English skills that enhance employability and rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills English sessions to adult learners Plan engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to a range of abilities and learning needs Assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments and examinations Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance, progress, and achievement Promote positive behaviour, motivation, and learner engagement in a custodial environment Work collaboratively with education staff, prison staff, and support services Ensure all teaching complies with safeguarding, health and safety, and prison security requirements Required Skills and Qualifications Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or relevant teaching/training experience Functional Skills English Level 2 (or equivalent) Proven experience delivering Functional Skills English at L1 and L2 Strong classroom and behaviour management skills Ability to engage, motivate, and support adult learners with varied educational ..... full job details .....
