Hays Education are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive school in Bristol to recruit an experienced and committed Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and who thrives in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
Your New Role:
As SENCo, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEN provision across the school. You will:
- Lead the strategic development of SEN provision and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
- Identify, assess, and monitor the progress of pupils with SEND
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement effective intervention strategies
- Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and professionals to support student progress
- Manage and support teaching assistants and SEN support staff
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning for all pupils with additional needs
What You''ll Need to Succeed:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it)
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEND
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- A commitment to inclusive education and improving student outcomes
- Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practices
