Freelance Quantity Surveyor

Our client, a fast-growing residential developer, is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team across several new build housing schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable QS who is confident managing costs across multiple live sites and is looking for a rewarding mid-term contract. Key Responsibilities Oversee commercial and cost-control activities across new build residential projects Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cashflows Lead procurement, tendering, and subcontractor negotiations Conduct site valuations, measure works, and manage variations Produce and review interim applications, payment notices, and final accounts Collaborate closely with project managers and site teams to ensure cost efficiency Provide regular cost reporting to senior management Travel between the Bedford office and Norwich sites as required Key Requirements Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential new build (developer or contractor background) Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and communication skills Ability to operate autonomously and manage workload across multiple projects Willingness and ability to travel (Bedford-based with visits to Norwich sites) Immediate or short-notice availability preferred Own transport essential What is on Offer 6-month freelance contract with a competitive day rate Opportunity to work with a respected residential developer on high-quality schemes Supportive ..... full job details .....
