Freelance Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join a major refurbishment project on a 2-year contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile scheme, managing the design process to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages
• Liaise with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
• Ensure design information is delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
• Review and manage design programmes and deliverables
• Identify and mitigate design risks and clashes
• Lead design meetings and drive progress across disciplines
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and client requirements
• Support the commercial and construction teams throughout delivery

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Design Manager on refurbishment or retrofit projects
• Strong understanding of construction processes and design coordination
• Background working with main contractors or large-scale projects
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Proficiency in relevant design and project management tools (e.g., BIM, Aconex, etc.)
