Overview

We’re working with a fast-growing algorithmic trading firm that has scaled from just a handful of people to a 25+ strong ETF trading team over the past couple of years, competing directly with the most established global players. They’re now hiring one of their first dedicated FPGA Engineers to help build a greenfield infrastructure that will directly drive trading performance. This is a rare opportunity to design FPGA systems from scratch, selecting the full technology stack and shaping how the desk uses hardware acceleration to reduce latency, sharpen execution, and improve competitiveness in ETF markets. With direct visibility into trading results and the freedom to innovate, this role will suit someone who thrives in highly technical, hands-on environments and wants their work to make an immediate impact.Responsibilities

Architect and implement FPGA-based solutions to accelerate trading performance and minimise latency exposureOwn the full design lifecycle: from hardware selection through to build, testing, and deploymentCollaborate closely with traders, software engineers, and a future FPGA teammate to align development with desk objectivesContinuously analyse and refine systems to ensure competitive advantage in ETF trading executionTake responsibility for system stability, scalability, and long-term maintainabilityDocument design choices and contribute to the broader engineering strategy for hardware-accelerated tradingWhat You’ll Bring

5+ years’ hands-on experience designing and developing FPGA systems in performance-critical environmentsBroad technical expertise - comfortable building rather than focusing narrowly on chip design or ASIC workflowsStrong coding and debugging ability with a focus on real-time optimisationCollaborative mindset, able to work effectively with colleagues across trading and technology functionsSelf-directed, capable of driving projects independently in a high-autonomy environmentBackground in trading firms or financial markets, with a strong understanding of how FPGA impacts execution(Preferred) Prior experience at firms recognised for FPGA developmentSeniority level
