Forward-Deployed Engineer

Amalga is a growing specialist airport operator based in Heathrow. Reporting directly to the MD, the Forward-Deployed Engineer embeds in the business, works out where technology can make the biggest difference, and then designs, builds and ships the systems to deliver it. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role. You will architect and build integrations across the software the business runs on, wire AI into the operation to automate real work, and own what you build in production. Purpose of role: You will work inside the operation rather than at arm''s length: close enough to the work to see what is needed, and skilled enough to build it. You will use modern AI development tools (such as Codex or Claude Code) as a force multiplier to design and ship at a pace a traditional team could not, and bring the engineering judgement to recommend what should be automated, what should run as plain, deterministic software, and where AI genuinely belongs in the loop.
