The Food Technology department plays a key role in equipping students with practical skills, while also deepening their understanding of food, nutrition, and sustainability.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.


  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum that integrates hands-on cooking techniques with a strong focus on food science, nutrition, and sustainability.


  • Regularly assess students'' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development and help them reach their potential.


  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that ensures all students are supported during practical activities.


  • Manage classroom resources, including ingredients and equipment, ensuring everything is properly maintained and stored safely.


  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments to create cross-curricular learning opportunities.


  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as food clubs, school events, and competitions, to engage and inspire students beyond the classroom.



Qualifications andamp; Experience:




  • Previous experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school is desirable.


  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and health.


  • A genuine passion for food education and the ability to inspire students to develop both practical and critical thinking skills.


  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage resources and equipment effectively.


  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support students with a range of abilities.
