The Role
This is a pivotal role within our clients transport operations, ensuring, fleet and drivers operate safely, efficiently, and, most importantly, in full compliance with all relevant legislation. You will be the cornerstone of our compliance efforts, working closely with the Operations Manager to maintain our exemplary standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Fleet Compliance Management: Using industry-specific systems (R2C) to manage driver daily checks, vehicle defect reporting (VOR), service and maintenance planning, MOT scheduling, and brake testing. You will ensure all paperwork is accurately filed and up-to-date.
- Tachograph Analysis: Managing driver and vehicle digital tachograph data using Tachomaster software. This includes investigating infringements, missing mileage, and ensuring all driver cards and downloads are current, in line with EU rules and the Working Time Directive.
- Driver Administration: Conducting regular driver licence and DCPC checks, planning holiday and weekend rotas via the resource plan, managing PPE stock, uniform orders, and assisting with bonus calculations.
- Resource Planning: Taking day-to-day ownership of our resource plan (Insight), ensuring it is 100% accurate by inputting vehicle services, repairs, and driver availability to provide real-time information to the transport planning team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with our drivers, internal planners, and external service agents.
The ideal candidate will be thorough, accurate, and confident with an exceptional eye for detail. You will need to be a strong communicator, capable of building robust working relationships at all levels.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- A background in transport, logistics, or a compliance-focused role is highly desirable.
- Experience with transport compliance software, particularly Tachomaster and R2C (or similar systems), is a significant advantage.
- A solid understanding of driver hours regulations (EU 3820/85 / UK Drivers'' Hours) and the Working Time Directive.
- Strong administrative and IT skills (especially Excel) with a commitment to accurate record-keeping.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
