Location: Darlaston, Wednesbury WS10 8BE
Contract:  3 months
Pay: £620 p/w

We are recruiting for an experienced Fitter Welder for a short-term engineering contract working on the repair and refurbishment of all sizes of leaf springs from vintage vehicles including steam locomotives.

Duties:

• Strip down multi-leaf spring packs by cutting the central clamp using a hydraulic press/jig
• Identify and remove broken, damaged, or fatigued leaves
• Degrease and clean complete spring assemblies
• Drill and prepare replacement leaves
• Fit new leaves to specification
• Clamp and align repaired leaf spring assemblies
• MIG weld heavy-gauge steel central clamps
• Carry out final inspection of completed assemblies

Requirements:

• MIG welding experience on heavy-gauge steel
• Experience using drills, grinders, and fabrication equipment
• Ability to work with heavy engineering components
• Good mechanical assembly skills
• Reliable with a strong focus on quality and safety

Hours:

• 8am to 4pm Monday and Friday and 8am to 5pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

This is a temporary position that starts immediately.
