About the Role The purpose of the position of Fire Damper Tester is to carry out fire damper inspections/testing. What we need Proven experience carrying out fire damper inspections/testing. Good understanding of relevant fire damper standards, manufacturer requirements and industry guidance. Able to identify installation defects, not simply perform a drop test. Understands the relationship between the damper, supporting construction and surrounding fire compartment. Able to recognise issues such as incorrect installation, damaged/modified dampers, access problems, missing/incorrect fire stopping and unsuitable fixings. Competent using testing/reporting systems and producing good-quality photographic evidence. Able to write clear, accurate engineer comments that a client can understand. Comfortable working in hospitals, commercial buildings, universities and other occupied environments. Good customer-facing skills professional, presentable and able to communicate with site contacts.
