Role Overview
An established engineering services provider is seeking an experienced Fire & Security Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join their team. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality installations, commissioning, and handovers of fire and security systems across commercial and industrial sites. The successful candidate will ensure all systems are fitted, tested, and commissioned to meet industry regulations, client requirements, and the highest quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and hand over Fire Detection, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarm systems.
Work from technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
Program, test, and commission systems in line with British Standards and project specifications.
Coordinate with project managers to schedule works and achieve agreed deadlines.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning stages.
Provide client demonstrations and training during system handovers.
Complete commissioning documents, certificates, and reports accurately and promptly.
Adhere to site health and safety requirements, including PPE use and following RAMS.
Collaborate with fellow engineers, contractors, and site staff to deliver successful project outcomes.
Maintain company tools, test equipment, and vehicle to a high standard.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in installing and commissioning Fire Detection and Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms).
Strong understanding of relevant British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN 50132, BS EN 50133, BS EN 50131).
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, drawings, and technical specifications.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
Knowledge of networking and IP-based systems.
Strong interpersonal skills for client and team communication.
Full UK driving licence.
Ability to pass full security vetting (NPPV2 Full).
Desirable Qualifications
- Industry-recognised fire and security qualifications (e.g., FIA Units, manufacturer-specific training).
Experience with various manufacturer systems (e.g., Advanced, Gent, Morley, Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom).
ECS/CSCS card.
IPAF / PASMA certification.
