Location: London, M25 corridor, Kent, Surrey and surrounding areas, with some travel towards the South Coast
Salary: Up to £40,000 basic, dependent on experience, plus commission incentive package
The Role
We are recruiting for a Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join an established fire and security business as its service department continues to grow.
This role would suit an experienced service engineer who has a good understanding of fire alarm and emergency lighting systems and takes pride in delivering reliable, compliant work for customers.
You will work across a varied portfolio of customer sites throughout London, the M25 counties, Kent and Surrey, with occasional travel towards the South Coast. You will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, fault finding, breakdowns and remedial works, with opportunities to develop your skills across a range of fire-related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and testing.
- Diagnose faults, attend breakdowns and complete remedial works.
- Undertake occasional minor works and system improvements.
- Work on addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Complete accurate service documentation and technical reports.
- Ensure work meets relevant industry standards, including BS 5839-1 and BS 5266-1.
- Work on associated systems such as aspirating detection, beam detection, flame detection, disabled refuge alarms, disabled toilet alarms and nurse call systems.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong working relationships on site.
- Previous experience in a fire alarm service or maintenance role is essential.
- Practical experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of emergency lighting maintenance and testing.
- Strong fault-finding, testing and diagnostic skills.
- A good understanding of industry standards and compliance.
- Experience with aspirating detection systems would be advantageous.
- An EAL Level 3 or FIA qualification would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the designated area.
- Flexibility to undertake occasional overnight stays if required.

- Basic salary of up to £40,000, dependent on experience.

- Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (40 hours per week).
- 20 days'' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by one day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 25 days.
