Financial Planning Manager

Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Planning Manager, supporting the Head of Financial Strategy and Planning in developing an effective Trust-wide financial planning process. Working with other senior finance colleagues to ensure the finance function provides high quality, professional financial support to the Trust that meets the needs of the business. In providing specialist financial expertise and leadership to the business there is a requirement to exercise concentrated and sustained mental effort to analyse and convey information, and to prioritise workloads according to stakeholder needs and financial deadlines. The post holder must have a recognised CCAB or equivalent qualification and significant senior experience in finance, with a commitment to Continuous Professional Development. Main duties of the job
Provide business partnering to support the Trust''s capital programme and participate as one of three financial planning managers making decisions on complex financial situations.
Coordinate the financial planning of the Trust including the Annual Planning Review, long-term planning, monthly returns and forecasts.
Model long-term planning assumptions (LTFM) to keep the Trust''s financial strategy up to date.
Review business cases and manage the day-to-day governance of the Trust''s Investment Board.
Produce accurate elements of financial performance and recovery reporting (including CIP) for internal and external stakeholders in line with best practice.

Job Description and ResponsibilitiesTo lead in the delivery and presentation of the financial element of the Trust''s Annual Plan and oversee the production of a reliable forecasting process. Work closely with the Head of Finance MI, Analysis and Reporting to ensure the financial plan is accurately reflected in budgets. Model short-term (1 year) and long-term financial plans, accounting for cost pressures, service developments, income assumptions (including tariff revisions and policy changes). Support the production of longer-term strategic projections in partnership with other senior managers and lead on complex financial modelling showing the impact of proposed service changes. Develop long-term Service Business Plans aligned with organisational priorities and ensure outcomes from the Trust’s strategic framework, clinical strategy and estates strategy are reflected in the long-term financial plan. Challenge assumptions and ensure financial modelling is robust, accurate, and aligned with Trust objectives, identifying risks and mitigating actions. Essential: Understanding of Long-Term Financial Planning
Essential: Detailed understanding of financial analysis for service development business cases (SWOT, sensitivity analyses, payback period, IRR, discounted cash flows)
Essential: Project management and accounting processes, forecasting, modelling, trend analysis
Desirable: Knowledge of commissioning regime, structure of the national tariff and effects of policies on care group income
