AXA IM manages approximately €830bn in assets and employs 750+ investment professionals across 15 centers. The Commercial Real Estate and Infrastructure Fund Management Controlling Group within AXA IM – Real Assets is expanding and seeks a Financial Controller – Loan Asset Management to join in Paris or London. The team leads in CRE debt with more than $24bn AuMs in Europe and the US and a 15-year track record. The candidate should have experience in real estate debt (real estate loan servicer, loan portfolio or asset management within a bank or a real estate debt fund).
ResponsibilitiesLoan Asset ManagementYou will monitor the performance and evolution of CRE debt investments from origination through repayment. Main tasks include:
Following up interest payments, utilization requests and repayments
Handling consents, modifications and waivers in coordination with the Fund management team
Reviewing loan performance through tracking financial covenants (LTV, LTC, DSCR, Debt Yield)
Reviewing asset valuations, updating cash flows and tenancy schedules
Monitoring operational aspects of assets (capex programs, ESG metrics)
Deal Execution and Asset Management
Provide deal support, including financial analysis and execution of deal cashflows
Create tailored cash-flows/valuation models to simulate scenarios
Monitor cash and manage cash distributions
Review capital calls and distribution notices and cash allocation schedules
Review property-level reporting, budgets, tenancy schedules from property managers and asset managers
Liaise with the deal team to ensure fundings/distributions
Closings: guidelines check, validation of deal allocation, KYC preparation, ensuring payments/investments are properly processed and received
IPD calculation, Covenant and Waiver analysis
Review loan documentation including drawdown, amortization, repayments and fees
Portfolio Management
Contribute to the valuation process, gross-to-net adjustments, and preparation of valuation committee and Loan Reviews materials
Support investment decision process by maintaining fund models and scenario/sensitivity analyses
Support investment decision process with qualitative and quantitative fund data
Investor/Client reporting and ad hoc reports upon request
Manage IT tools and reflect portfolio composition; reconcile with service providers; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely financial data
QualificationsYour Qualifications And ExperienceWe welcome different combinations of skills and experiences.
Business schools, engineering schools or universities
2 to 5 years in a financial institution (banks’ loan portfolio management teams, asset management company or loan service providers) is appreciated
Proven financial, analytical and organizational skills
English (high proficiency required)
Knowledge and Skills
Appetite for/knowledge of loan documentation
Appetite for/knowledge of the Real Estate Debt sector
Team player, multi-tasking, rigorous, willing to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment; ability to synthesize and prioritize
Advanced skills in Excel/VBA; knowledge of Simcorp Dimension and/or Real Insight is a plus but not required
