Financial Assessment and Benefits OfficerLocation: Home-based, fully remote (Reading Borough Council IT equipment collected on day one) Contract: Until December 2025, with potential to extendAbout the RoleReading Borough Council is seeking an experienced Financial Assessment and Benefits Officer to join the Client Finances team.Key responsibilities include: Carrying out financial assessments for residents receiving chargeable social care servicesProviding accurate welfare benefits adviceMaintaining records for billing, compliance, and audit purposesExplaining complex charging policies clearly and supportively to residents and familiesWorking collaboratively with Social Care, Accounts Receivable, Legal, and external agencies such as the DWP Candidate Requirements Proven experience in social care financial assessments and welfare benefitsStrong knowledge of care charging policies, welfare entitlements, and assessment proceduresAbility to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlinesExcellent communication skills with a customer-focused approachExperience using Mosaic (social care case management system)Strong IT and organisational skills Recruitment is done in line with safe recruitment practices. 4Recruitment Services is an equal opportunities employer.
