Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established and growing organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant to join its expanding finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, self-motivated and detail-focused accountant who enjoys getting involved across the wider finance function. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in improving processes and adding value beyond their day-to-day responsibilities.
Based in West London, the role offers hybrid working, with three days per week in the office.
The Role
As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organisation's financial reporting. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the production of accurate and timely month-end management reporting and accounts.
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring financial information is accurate and compliant with relevant accounting standards.
  • Investigating financial variances and providing meaningful analysis against budgets, forecasts and previous periods.
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory, regulatory and tax-related returns.
  • Overseeing accounting for foreign exchange transactions and related financial activity.
  • Managing and reconciling intercompany and loan accounts.
  • Supporting the year-end audit process and working closely with external auditors.
  • Identifying financial and operational risks and helping to implement effective controls.
  • Contributing to finance projects and continuously improving processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and supporting the wider Finance team when required.
 
About You
We’re looking for a qualified accountant with strong financial accounting experience and a hands-on, commercially minded approach.
You will ideally have:
  • At least three years' post-qualification experience, preferably gained within a fast-paced or high-volume environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including a good understanding of IFRS.
  • Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and large volumes of data.
  • The ability to investigate issues, identify solutions and communicate financial information clearly.
  • A proactive mindset and a willingness to take ownership and get involved across the wider finance function.
