Financial Accountant

Your new company
A government organisation based in Westminster is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join on an initial 6-month contract while a permanent recruitment process is underway. The organisation works on nationally significant issues in a highly regulated sector, playing a key role in delivering public policy objectives and managing relationships across government and industry.


Your new role

• Lead the preparation of the organisation''s interim financial statements, ensuring all reporting requirements are met accurately and to deadline.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals and review of key financial controls.
• Produce high-quality financial reporting and analysis, providing insight and assurance to senior stakeholders.
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation, audit requirements, regulatory returns and compliance activities within a complex, regulated environment.
• Work closely with the wider finance team to identify process improvements and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting processes.

What you''ll need to succeed

• Proven experience producing accounts under IFRS or FReM
• Previous experience in a government organisation is highly desirable
• A full accountancy qualification is essential (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, CIPFA or equivalent)
