We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a well-established legal firm. This is a varied role supporting the Finance Manager and wider business with day-to-day financial operations and would suit someone early in their finance career who is looking to build on existing experience within a supportive and professional environment. It’s an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain exposure to a broad range of accounting duties, develop their skillset, and progress within a well-established organisation.

Finance Assistant  - About the role

This is a varied role supporting the Finance Manager and wider business with day-to-day financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily bank reconciliations and banking
  • Managing weekly cashflow and income reporting
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
  • Processing invoices, payments, and receipts (CHAPS/BACS)
  • Supporting credit control activities when required
  • Handling client payments and finance queries
  • Assisting with file opening and closure processes, including compliance checks
  • Preparing financial reports for senior management
  • General accounts administration, including scanning and query resolution

The successful Finance Assistant will have:

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts support role
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience within a legal accounts environment or knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (desirable, not essential)
