Finance Manager
Exeter / Exmouth Area | Charity Sector
Salary: Up to -50,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full time (would also consider 4 days per week)
Location: Hybrid working - 2-3 days per week in the office
A well-established and values-led charity based in the Exeter / Exmouth area is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys a broad role encompassing financial management, operational support, compliance, and organisational improvement. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help ensure the charity operates efficiently and remains well-positioned for future growth.
The organisation works with a range of external partners and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes and is looking for someone who can combine strong financial expertise with a proactive, hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Produce financial reports for projects, funding partners and stakeholders
- Support annual audit and statutory reporting processes
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and advisers
- Manage payroll processes and support associated HR administration
- Strengthen financial controls and drive process improvements
Operations & Compliance
- Support procurement and supplier management activities
- Maintain governance, compliance and risk management processes
- Develop and support performance reporting and KPI monitoring
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and organisational requirements
- Contribute to operational projects and continuous improvement initiatives
About YouWe''re looking for an organised and adaptable finance professional who enjoys working across multiple areas of an organisation.
You will ideally have:
- Experience producing management accounts and financial reports
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and cashflow skills
- Experience working with auditors and external advisers
- Excellent spreadsheet and financial systems knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Previous experience within the charity, not-for-profit or grant-funded sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
