Finance Director

The Company:

We are delighted to have the opportunity to commence the search process for a Finance Director for an award-winning architectural practice based in Westminster.

The practice engages on UK and international projects, including major municipal buildings, corporate headquarters, hotels and leisure locations, and even bridges!

Our client has been established for over 20 years, and has built up an excellent senior leadership team across all business functions, supported by a number of partners and architects within the business. 

The practice continues to scale up, and is keen that the incoming Finance Director should be a very business centric financial professional, who will also act as a catalyst for the firm embracing further new technology. 

The business operates from state of the art premises in Central London (Westminster), with easy access via the underground network, and Victoria and Waterloo mainline stations. 

The business offers the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis, working mixed from home and the office.

Background to the new role

The retirement of the incumbent Finance Director provides the opportunity for a new chapter to open for the finance function and how it engages with the wider practice.

The practice is keen that the incoming Finance Director will play an instrumental role as part of the senior leadership team, and will be key to the continued modernisation of the practice. 

The incoming Finance Director will play a broad role across all areas of the business, with a remit very much not just limited to FP&A and statutory accounts!

The Finance Director will be expected to play a full part in the business as a whole, supporting commercial decisions and developing improved MI for the business.

The successful candidate as Finance Director will very much engage with the business as a whole, helping the business to make informed decisions. 

The ideal candidate:

Ideally we seek a qualified accountant with a proven track record within a senior financial management or financial leadership capacity. 

We are able to consider suitable applications from candidates who are qualified accountants (ACCA, ACA, CIMA), and consideration will also be given to part-qualified candidates if they can demonstrate the right level of experience and commercial ability. 

Candidates should have a background as a Financial Director, Financial Controller, or a closely related senior financial role within ideally a professional, building, civil engineering, legal, or similar ‘fee earning’ and projects setting.
