Finance Director

CMA Recruitment Group is exclusively partnering with a purpose-led, technology-driven business to appoint a Finance Director. It is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a finance function at a genuine inflection point.

My client''s proprietary SaaS platform changes how large public-sector and not-for-profit organisations deliver financial support to the people they serve. The platform is used by hundreds of thousands of people every year. Recent strategic investment has strengthened the Board, opened new markets and underpinned an ambitious growth plan to 2030. The finance function now needs to scale to match.

Reporting directly to a highly experienced Group CFO with a background in technology, private equity and transformation, you will play the central role in building a finance function fit for the next phase of growth.

What will the Finance Director role involve?

• Taking full ownership of financial control, including statutory accounts, external audit, tax and VAT, balance sheet integrity and the month-end close
• Owning the monthly reporting pack and budgeting process, giving the CFO, Board and Non-Executive Directors complete confidence in the numbers
• Modelling and implementing changes to revenue recognition under FRS 102 as the SaaS platform and pricing models evolve
• Managing covenant compliance and reporting on the Group''s bank facility
• Strengthening the control environment proactively, including documenting policies, embedding robust controls and keeping ahead of changes to accounting standards
• Assessing the current finance system and leading the implementation of a multi-entity consolidation solution, or recommending an alternative platform
• Leading and developing the finance team through procedural and cultural change
• Acting as a trusted deputy to the CFO, taking on elements of Board and investor reporting over time and contributing commercially to pricing, tenders and new contract wins

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Director vacancy:

• Qualified ACA or ACCA, practice-trained with experience at senior Financial Controller or Finance Director level, with a willingness to be hands-on
• Ideally a mix of SME and larger corporate experience. You''ll bring the rigour and best practice of a larger organisation, and the pace and pragmatism to deliver in a growing business
• Technically strong in statutory reporting, financial control and balance sheet management
• Exposure to SaaS, technology or professional services revenue models is valuable.
• A credible, visible leader able to influence a senior Board, develop a team and drive change at pace

• Discretionary bonus of c.10–15% (structure being confirmed)
