Finance Assistant

Astute Recruitment are working with an established business in Derby to recruit a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop beyond transactional finance, gaining exposure to month-end, management accounts, financial reporting, stock and costings.

The Role Will Involve:

• Assisting with month-end and the preparation of management accounts
• Preparing journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Analysing financial information and investigating variances
• Supporting stock reconciliations, valuations and costings
• Reviewing costs and helping identify discrepancies
• Processing Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger transactions
• Managing supplier reconciliations, customer queries and credit control
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Financial Controller with wider accounting projects

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
• Good understanding of core accounting principles, including Purchase and Sales Ledger
• Keen to develop technical accounting skills across month-end, management accounts and costings
• Strong Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and good organisational skills
• Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Benefits & Hours:

• Salary up to -29,000 depending on experience
• 37.5-hour working week with flexibility around core hours
• Monday to Thursday core hours of 9:30am - 4:30pm, with a 1:00pm Friday finish, provided contracted hours are completed
