Field Service Engineer - VSD

Role: Field Service Engineer

Location: Field Based

Salary: Up to -45,000 Depending on experience

My client is looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer with proven experience working with Variable Speed Drives to join their busy engineering team. This is a field-based role covering, supporting customers across industrial and commercial environments.

You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of VSD systems and associated electrical/mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities include:

• Installation and commissioning of VSDs across various industrial applications
• Fault-finding and diagnostics on drive systems and associated equipment
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance
• Provide on-site technical support and problem resolution
• Parameter setting and optimisation of drive systems
• Work with motors, control panels, and PLC systems
• Complete service reports and documentation accurately
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards
• Participate in on-call rota

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience working with Variable Speed Drives
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Experience commissioning and programming drive systems
• Relevant electrical qualification - NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, 18th Edition preferred
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Experience with major drive manufacturers (e.g., ABB, Danfoss, Siemens, Schneider)
• Knowledge of PLC systems and automation
