Field Service Engineer - Military Training Systems

Our client, a leading organisation within the defence and security sector, is seeking a Field Service Engineer - Military Training Systems to support the delivery and operation of military simulation equipment. Based in Bovington with UK-wide travel, the permanent role will involve providing technical support and training to UK land forces in simulated and live training environments.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective training on military simulation systems, including driver and crew simulators, indirect fires simulators and joint fires synthetic training systems
  • Act as the main point of contact for instructors and trainees at customer locations
  • Provide 1st-line and 2nd-line IT support, including fault diagnosis, equipment care and maintenance
  • Work with technical and support teams to resolve faults and maintain system availability
  • Support system upgrades, testing, installation, site acceptance and the setup of new training locations
  • Conduct site visits and recommend the resources required for successful training delivery
  • Produce post-exercise reports, capture accurate data and monitor system performance through relevant KPIs
  • Support the induction and mentoring of new Field Service Representatives and contribute to wider simulation activities


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in IT support, field service engineering or technical customer support
  • Practical knowledge of 1st-line and 2nd-line troubleshooting and fault resolution
  • Understanding of military training systems, simulation software or synthetic training environments
  • UK Army experience or a strong understanding of military training operations
  • Experience using simulation software, ideally VBS4
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance tasks
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to deliver training and explain technical information
  • Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities and maintain a calm, professional approach in challenging environments
