The RoleWe are recruiting for a Field Service & Calibration Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation based in Milton Keynes.
This is a varied role combining workshop-based calibration and repair work with regular travel to customer sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, calibrating and fault-finding on specialist force measurement and testing equipment.
Work will be scheduled in advance by the Service Manager, with a mixture of office-based and field-based activities throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibration, servicing and maintenance of force measurement and testing equipment
- Carrying out planned service visits at customer sites
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electronic faults
- Repairing and replacing components including PCBs where required
- Using calibration equipment and recording test results
- Producing calibration certificates and service reports
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Ensuring compliance with relevant testing standards and quality requirements
- Delivering excellent customer service on-site and remotely
- Working independently and managing workload effectively
✅ Experience servicing, calibrating or maintaining engineering equipment
✅ Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
✅ Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
✅ Computer literate with experience recording and processing data
✅ Ability to read and understand technical drawings
✅ Full UK Driving Licence
✅ Valid Passport and willingness to travel
✅ Able to work independently with minimal supervision
✅ Physically fit and comfortable handling calibration equipment
✅ Professional and confident communicator able to engage with customers at all levels
✅ Basic electronics knowledge including: PCB replacement, Use of a multimeter, Fault diagnosis
✅ Understanding of: Load Cells, LVDTs, Electronic transducers, Measurement and testing equipment
Desirable
⭐ Calibration experience
⭐ Experience working within testing, measurement, instrumentation or laboratory equipment industries
⭐ Understanding of industry standards and compliance requirements
⭐ Previous field service engineering experience
