Life at Hft

Joining Hft means becoming part of a warm, inclusive team that values both your well-being and the impact you make. We believe every learning disabled adult should have the chance to live the best life possible, and that begins with supporting our colleagues.

Our values guide everything we do: we’re diverse and inclusive, kind and compassionate, positive and solution-focused, and visionary about what the best life possible can look like. Here, your work has real purpose.

You’ll be part of a welcoming team that values what you bring, supports your growth, and ensures you feel included and appreciated every step of the way.

What You’ll Be Doing

Every day is an opportunity to support people to live the best life possible. In this role, you’ll work alongside individuals, championing independence, choice and dignity in everything you do:

  • Support people to make their own choices and live in a way that reflects who they are and what matters most to them
  • Encourage meaningful participation in social, leisure, work and community activities that build connection, confidence and enjoyment
  • Promote health, safety and wellbeing, balancing support with respect for each person’s preferences and decisions
  • Enable people to attend health appointments and feel confident in managing their medication and wellbeing
  • Nurture independence step by step, helping people to develop new skills, confidence and self-belief
  • Stand alongside people in their day-to-day lives, offering the right level of support, including personal care where needed, while always promoting dignity and respect
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding practices, ensuring every person feels safe, valued and supported

Who you are

You’re passionate about standing alongside learning disabled adults, supporting each person to live the best life possible on their own terms.

To do this well, you’ll bring:

  • Patience, empathy and a genuine respect for people’s choices, recognising and valuing individuality
  • A positive and encouraging approach, celebrating progress and achievements, no matter how small
  • Strong communication skills, helping to build open, trusting and meaningful relationships
  • A willingness to learn and develop, including working towards a Health and Social Care qualification
  • Confidence in providing personal support when it’s needed, always with dignity, kindness and respect
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins
  • Experience in social care is welcome, but not essential. Your values, compassion and commitment are what truly make the difference
