Empowering Learning are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Wandsworth for a Farm Assistant to join their dedicated team.

This is a unique opportunity to combine animal care with supporting young people with additional needs. The school caters for boys aged 5-19 and has a fully operational on-site farm, providing animal-assisted learning as part of its therapeutic approach. You''ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare while helping create meaningful learning experiences for pupils.

As Farm Assistant, you will:

• Carry out the daily care, feeding and cleaning of a wide range of animals, from livestock to reptiles.
• Maintain high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and farm presentation.
• Support students during practical farm-based learning activities and animal therapy sessions.
• Ensure health and safety procedures and farm risk assessments are followed at all times.
• Work closely with teaching and therapy staff to provide a safe, engaging and positive environment for pupils.

• Experience working within the animal care sector.
• Holds an animal care qualification (desirable).
• Has experience caring for a variety of animal species.
• Is reliable, proactive and happy to undertake physically demanding, hands-on work.
• Has a good understanding of health and safety within an animal care setting.
• Has experience working with children or young people with additional needs, or is keen to develop within an SEN environment.
