Family Liaison Officer (SEND School) - September Start


Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Long-Term, Temp to Perm for the right candidate
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Daily Rate: Dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Family Liaison Officer, Family Support Worker, Attendance Officer, or Safeguarding professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a specialist educational setting?

We are working with a highly supportive specialist school seeking a dedicated Family Liaison Officer to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with additional needs and work closely with families, external agencies, and school staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

The Role

As the Family Liaison Officer, you will act as a vital link between home and school, building positive relationships with families and supporting pupils'' wellbeing, attendance, and engagement in education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with students, parents, and carers.
  • Supporting families with barriers to learning and school attendance.
  • Working alongside safeguarding, pastoral, and SEND teams.
  • Liaising with external professionals and agencies where required.
  • Monitoring attendance and supporting strategies to improve engagement.
  • Conducting home visits when appropriate.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and practical support to families.
  • Promoting positive outcomes for young people with additional needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Family Liaison Officer, Family Support Worker, Attendance Officer, Pastoral Lead, Youth Worker, or similar role.
  • Experience working with SEND pupils, particularly within specialist or alternative education settings.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service.
  • Ability to start ASAP and continue into the new academic year from September.
  • Full commitment to a Monday to Friday long-term position.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and additional learning needs.
  • Experience working alongside social care, Early Help, CAMHS, or other external agencies.
  • Full UK driving licence.
